Simon and Alisa left early this morning. It didn’t really feel like she was leaving. Odd that. I mean, she was leaving but she had been here so long, I expected her to pop back in about an hour.
It has been very quiet in the house today. I miss her. She is beautiful, caring, loving, and a complete idiot. In other words, perfect.
So I got busy with cleaning and laundry and then work in the garden. The weeding is a never-ending chore. But I have even come to love that because weeding is caring for it – nurturing the plants. And the daily round allows me to be close, to see how every plant is doing and what it needs. It’s really a sort of communication.
We have a potato forest – actually a couple of potato forests. We have flowers bursting out everywhere. We have tiny baby blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. We have lots of fabulous fresh lettuce (tonight’s dinner – fresh baked bread and a huge salad!). We have seeds sprouting up everywhere- successions of radishes and lettuces and spinach and chard. We have big garlic and thriving tomatoes and peas. The squash are starting to take over the hugel.
It is a thing of beauty and abundance.
