Have you ever had one of those days when you wondered, “Where the hell did that day go?”
One of those days when it feels like you did absolutely nothing but you still seemed to be doing things and then, Boom! It’s over.
I have just had one of those days. And here it is, Summer solstice and I feel like I should be dancing naked in the woods with bears or something – well, maybe not actual bears – maybe just chipmunks and ground squirrels.
But no – just a day: pulling weeds in the garden, watering tomatoes, driving into town twice – the second time because I had to feed the dogs and realized I had no food for them and they were going to call the SPCA and report me for abuse. So Simon and I got into the car and dashed off to New Market where I got chicken drumsticks for them. And then, because that was all so stressful, we stopped at the liquor store.
Well, hell, it’s Alisa’s last night here so we may as well get mildly (wildly?) drunk and play Cards Against Humanity or some such nonsense.
And really – that’s about it. Probably the most productive thing we did was plan out our lavender garden.
Fingers crossed for sun tomorrow. Because while Simon is driving Alisa back to Keremeos, where she will pick up her ride, I plan to spend the day being constructive in the garden. And I can be so much more constructive in the sun.
And maybe bake some bread and hang some washing on the line.
But tonight – bring on the wine (whine?)
