This day has been all about the little things bringing me joy. Yup – when I come to think of it, it’s almost always the small things that really matter.
Like waking up with giggles and cuddles.
Like slowing down in the garden and simply taking each chore one little bit at a time and stopping and loving what is there.
Today I had the immense pleasure of discovering our driveway lupins. I think I scattered the seeds up the side of the drive three years ago – and gave up on them when I never saw them germinate. I just wanted one of those gorgeous Kootenay lupin driveways!
And this year: boom! They are going to bloom in a day or two!
That – that very small thing – was enough to bring me total joy in this day.
But there were other little things too:
A lazy little walk with Abby in town.
Stopping at Brouse Lodge to admire the fabulous work Simon has done.
Popping into New Market for milk and finding they had just re-stocked my current favourite dark chocolate. (yes – I bought 10 bars!).
Coming home, finishing the garden work I wanted to get done – and just simply loving the garden: the robins under our eaves feeding the chicks that hatched a couple of days ago, the black chinned hummingbirds buzzing all around – so much to be grateful for.
