Yes! Actual sun today. And warm enough to wear a T-shirt.
It didn’t start out that way. It rained a lot last night – or perhaps that was early morning. Rainy days have begun to blend into each other so I have trouble keeping track. This is, surprisingly enough, not a huge complaint. The garden is thriving, so who am I to argue with rain?
Still, it was lovely to get out this morning and weed the entire thing. Although I am sure I will have to weed again in the exact same spots within the next 48 hours.
Not complaining. The desirable plants are also growing like mad.
And then, after lunch, Alisa and I took the dogs out on the Galena Trail. And Abby was fine! We went all the way to the creek and both dogs did the usual: Shanara jumped in and did her best to drink it dry. Abby just jumped in and lay down.
Then we got back and I decided to tackle the “little” job I had planned: trim up the roses that are growing wild on one of our benches.
I don’t know how many acres of stuff I pulled out: I cut and sliced and diced and yanked – not just roses but everything else as well: burdock, comfrey, thimble berries, bracken, every weed known to man and years of old decaying matter – some of which I could not (and did not want to ) identify.
I uncovered rock walls and berms and the remains of the old gardens. Then, after a good deal more pruning and with all the great snipping and work Simon has done, we now seem to have a bench by the old cabin and a cleared path plus some growing space.
Whew! We’re getting there. Every new project brings new rewards.
And Simon is coming home with more plants, including more berry bushes. Yay!
