While Alisa and I were in town today, we took a walk down by the lake. We saw the aftermath of the storm that came through the other night/day. Wow! The trail was closed in many sections – under water. The debris was impressive.
And it was a nice walk.
Pouring rain this morning and then enough sun to get some gardening done. Baked bread; about to begin a nice dinner – winging it with a new recipe. Fun! I’ve started harvesting from the garden – greens and herbs and radishes. Yay!
Hiking tomorrow with my love.
Life is good.
I keep feeling I want to say something about Black Lives Matter and everything that is going on in the US and also here in Canada. Right now, however, I can only say that I am an ally; I will learn; I will grow; I will do whatever I can to help. I will stay alert to learning more about where that help is best delivered. Right now it’s mostly online. I’m willing to risk not being liked – not much of a risk in the scheme of things. Not when it comes to the risks others take – have to take.
Bottom line – as a white person, I’m not going to say much. It isn’t my place to do the talking. It’s my place to listen.
