This is the busy time – and also the time when you begin to see some of the fruits of your labours. The swiss chard is ready to pick and the spinach and radishes – days away. Beans are beginning to poke up through the ground.
Simon is picking up asparagus crowns! I found some! So they will go into the ground soon.
What else? The almond tree is flowering like mad. For the second year in a row, we have robins nesting on our top deck under the eaves. The peas are thriving at last. I did the first hilling of the potatoes.
Weeding. Did I mention at least two hours of weeding today?
Worth every minute.
And the lawn! Oh my gosh! All of Simon’s hard work is paying off and we actually have a lawn. The dogs are pleased about this.
Tomorrow: a day off for a family hike and then Sunday in the garden.
