Gardening in the Rain

First – thanks to Alisa for the photo of Abby – who clearly knows what to do on a rainy day. Simon and I, on the other hand, were not as wise.

We decided to garden.

Among all the other things we did today.

Simon started on the flagstone path – which is already looking fabulous. He also wielded the pickaxe to give me more garden space to plant more plants – like alliums and spiderwort. And he moved huge rocks for me.

I’d be happy to post photos but it’s pouring.

We got wet. All three of us went out to pick fiddleheads and rhubarb. Alisa and Simon are doing dinner tonight! I understand there will be fiddleheads, asparagus, mushrooms, and onions in a pesto sauce over pasta. This sounds amazing. There is also a rhubarb pie in the making. Oh yes – we also got chives and wild oregano.

All very exciting.

And, as always, I have a long to-do list for tomorrow: baking and laundry and making oat milk and weeding. We are thrilled about the rain. All the transplants and seedlings are loving it. But so are the weeds.

The bad news about the garden: the work never ends.

The good news about the garden: the work never ends.
