Yup – that’s me (in a weird sort of way).
Those who know me will likely faint (or think my brain has been taken over by aliens) when I say that today I sewed.
Yes, I did. But your shock will dwindle a wee bit when I admit that I did a very crappy job.
It all started like this. When Simon and I first moved into the house, I bought a set of drapes for the walk-in closet (no door). They were heavy and about 1.5 feet too long. I had to shorten them. I bought fabric glue. I did not cut them. I simply pinned them to the right length and spread globs of glue here and there. Surprisingly (to me) gluey blobs showed through the fabric.
I didn’t care. Whatever, I thought – who is going to look down at the hem? (turns out almost everyone did). Still, they were now the right length. Well, over the years, the glue fell apart and the curtains have more or less draped themselves down on the floor. So – I decided to do a proper job and sew them, figuring that I could make the stitches where the gluey blobs were and no one would be able to see the stitches.
Well – the fabric Is a touch puckered. It’s very far from perfect. But at least one of the two panels is now the right length and not dragging on the floor.
Yes – I said one. Did you really expect me to do both panels in one day?
Oh yes, I also baked hiking cookies today. And cleaned a bit here and there. And did laundry and weeded and watered the garden. You see? Suzy Homemaker!
Luckily I counteracted all of the cloying sweetness by hauling bricks today from Sue who gave me her old ones from having a chimney in her house torn down.
Whew! Saved by the bricks.
