Garden Progress

What an immensely satisfying day!

I got started early: attacked the entire lower garden – bermed up the beds, carted soil/manure down and then planted all the rest of the potatoes and the onions. Next: prepared the bed for the tomatoes. Top dressed and strawed the strawberries.

Also sowed the peas and the lettuce. Then hauled soil/manure to top dress all but two of the upper raised beds. Two left out because we are using one for a cold frame and another for heeling in plants before they get moved.

Meanwhile, we have a huge and growing rhubarb patch in the lower garden, which is expanding by the day. And Simon brought home another 50 or so raspberry canes and has spend the day not so much building, but rather engineering another raspberry bed, moving 100-pound rocks in the process. It’s looking amazing!

I expect we are going to have a hugely abundant garden this year.

Tomorrow I plan to sow carrots and some more lettuce – trying a red leafed buttercrunch.

Between hiking a couple of days a week, baking and other domestic chores and the garden, I have no idea where I am going to find time to write another book, but I will because that contract starts in two weeks.

Whew!

Very exciting. All of it.

And to top it off, I have overflowing love in my life.

Yeah – I am blessed.
