This day was largely about Plan B.
Plan A was hiking the Awesome Trail up Mount Tzouhalem. But it rained and rained and rained and the highway and all surrounding roads were flooded. There wasn’t a chance of getting there.
So Val and I met at the Abyss trailhead and had a gorgeous day. It was warm. It was sunny! We explored. We waded through a certain amount of water – to be expected really – and tried out some trails that went in the wrong direction and at one or two points some bushwhacking was involved.
What’s a hike without a bit of a whack?
And then we hit the crowning glory of the hike – the Creeper trail. Val was oohing and aahing every second step. Needless to say, that particular trail was a slow go because we were both taking such a lot of photos!
All for a good cause.
And then I got home and fed Abby and had a bath and then talked to Simon.
In other words, my day was complete.
Early night tonight because I have to be up at 5.30 tomorrow morning. Mount Becher! Snowshoe! Yay!
