It may have been a lazy day for me – but I doubt Abby would agree. She is stretched out on the floor and looks like movement is something she is so not interested in.
It started innocently enough with a walk in the back 40 this morning. But then soon after I got back from the market, Michelle (Pat’s daughter) came over to announce that Abby was in their fenced back yard with Elbie (an old friend of Abby’s and much younger) and did I mind if she just hung out there?
Fine by me, I said. So Abby was ferociously attacked for the next two hours by a young, active, playful dog.
She finally came home exhausted – just in time for me to say, “We’re going for a walk at Cable Bay!
She wasn’t entirely sure about that but eventually conceded. So off we went. It’s Sunday when everyone brings their dog to Cable Bay. For the next almost two hours of an up and downhill walk, she met at least 20 dogs including one three-month-old puppy (so cute) who pounced on her and wouldn’t stop. Abby being Abby just stood there and let the pup have his way with her. This included ear tugging and lots of pouncing.
I fed her when I got home. And she lay down. And she has not moved for at least an hour.
I think it’s safe to say that she had a full day.
Me? I have spent most of the day inside my head. Not in a bad way – just inside – asking questions; feeling my feelings; thinking my thoughts; achieving clarity.
