Today it was time to catch up with another friend: Pat. We met at the end of Genoa Bay Road and hiked up Mount Tzouhalem – slowly because we talked all the way.
And I didn’t dwell on the fact that this was the first place Simon and I kissed. – and I only choked up once when I told Pat that I still loved him and always would. And that’s true and it feels like truth in my heart and it also feels right and good.
If that makes any sense. And if it doesn’t I don’t much care.
At any rate, we talked and hiked and I tripped and fell hard on some rocks on the way down and took a photo of the huge scrape and blood running dramatically down my leg but deemed it too gruesome to post. Let me put it this way, before entering civilization for lunch, I wrapped a huge white triangle around it – and then bought those monster bandaids meant for really big wounds and had to use three of them to get it all covered up. (don’t want to get blood on the sheets, after all).
And it’s all fine. As summer legs go, I probably now have the best in the entire hiking community.
Abby came along. Hurrah!
We finished hiking in four hours and went to the Garage for lunch! Best lunch place EVER!
And what luck: we secured an outdoor table with a huge bucket of water for dogs beside it so Abby joined us. And here’s proof how much I love my dog: I actually shared some of my sandwich with her. All right – it was just a small bit, but still….
More catching up tomorrow – more friends.
