The photos aren’t very good because I took them quickly and didn’t even turn on the lights – but I just thought I’d show you all that I am indeed home and the pictures are up on the walls.
And then today was a whole ‘nother thing.
I had a deep, excellent sleep for the first time in a long while and woke up, looked at my iPad and thought, “Great – 6.30 a.m.! A good time to get up.” I hopped into the shower (huge rain head – Bliss!) and got dressed. Looked at the time again. Oops – 5.30 a.m.
Oh well – I’ll get an early start.
So I did some laundry and took Abby into the back 40, noticing how soft the air is. I love it! Then I geared up for some shopping: new living room lamps for instance. And a few other bits and pieces. I zipped in and out of Home Sense in a flash. They had everything I wanted. Most of it on sale. I mean – a brand new lamp for $40. And I picked up a lampshade for the other lamp.
Next – Costco. Took out a membership, bought my down packable jacket (no more duct tape holding it together) and a monster pack of chicken thighs- at that price – wow! Abby is going to do well!
Next: Hey, I may as well drop into Dodd’s furniture – it’s right there and I may as well begin my hunt. I walked in. “Can I help you,” the nice young man said.
I told him I was looking for a couch – red or green and a wanted a good price. He said they could make a custom couch for me in Vancouver.
I nodded, walked down the aisle, pointed and said: “What about that one?”
It was the perfect colour – a coral red that was exactly what I had in mind: not just the colour but the shape, size and style. Perfect.
Well, he said – that one was on sale at about 30% off (maybe 40? Who knows – my math isn’t great). So – here’s the ideal couch – and comfy too – under $1,000. Delivery? How about tomorrow, he said.
Sold, said I.
And that was my slow beginning to couch shopping.
I counted that an excellent morning. I was home by noon. had lunch, a refreshing nap and then a walk in Hemer Park with Julie and Ocean. It was a lovely reunion of the two best friends.
And then I thought – hell, why not get my Wednesday list done today? Dashed off to London Drugs and bought my new version of my current camera – on sale no less! And then a few bits and pieces like compostable garbage bags for the city compost pickup – just everything I needed.
And I count that a darn successful day!
And now – finally – a bubble bath in my beautiful soaker tub.
