Lightning Strike

Just when you think your done with snowshoeing, you put on your snowshoes again and say “what the heck” and go off up Lightning Strike at Kootenay Pass.

And I’ll have to say that we were all pretty darn glad that we did. It was a beautiful day for it. The views were magnificent. We had interesting weather to look at and were madly lucky that the rain and snow circled around us and didn’t hit us at all.

Two best parts of the day: our group was the “A” team as far as fun was concerned. Totally the best. The other great part: it’s so beautiful up there. It’s exactly the kind of day that feeds my soul. There’s that wonderful moment when we crest the ridge and all the mountains are laid out in front of us – ahhhhhhh.

Yes, it was a glorious day.

On another note entirely: Simon found a bird (varied thrush we think) building a nest on the deck outside our bedroom. Yay! We’re going to have babies!
