I know it’s officially “shoulder” season when I hike up Davis Creek. The snowshoes are put away. The snow baskets are off my poles.
This, of course, does not mean that we are snow free. Today, Tammy and Peter and I hiked up Davis Creek to the lookout. We’d all pretty much forgotten how steep that hike is. Damn! Straight up.
Once at the lookout, we went on along the ridge. About 20 minutes in, we hit snow and lots of it. So, not wishing to posthole for another 40 – 60 minutes, we turned back, dashed down the mountain and drove to Fletcher Falls.
The falls are always pretty but what was particularly nice was sitting on the beach with our lunch.
Yeah – pretty nice.
And then I was hopeful of picking up the truck on the way home but it was not to be. Richard was badly hung up on a recalcitrant Toyota. We may or may not get the truck back today.
Tammy dropped me off in town and I searched out Simon, picked up the car and came home to a nice hot shower. Now I have to pick him up again in town. And then maybe drive us both to the garage later and come back home. Or, Simon will drop me off in town tomorrow morning and I’ll get a ride to our next hike.
