Today, Snowshoeing alone (so good for my soul) I felt like the Mother had reached out and touched my soul. I don’t know how else to describe it.
This is what the beauty of these high mountain places means to me. Again, I don’t have the words to describe it…
Evening Ridge is a special place for me – a place where I am invariably in a state of bliss.
I spent some time today in bliss.
I also loved finding a new place: I went up through Hummingbird Pass and then took all the skin tracks heading toward Selous Ridge. Once I arrived at the saddle, I chose to head to Selous Ridge. Why not? I’d never been! A new place to explore.
Once I had done the length of the ridge, I came back, dipped down briefly and headed up to the top of Evening Ridge.
Did I mention bliss?
And then, with the sun shining warm, I headed back down the steep south face, taking a safer route than usual to avoid the min-avalanches that I suspect had recently been triggered by sun. And then, I chose to explore a new track leading down which surprised me because I was suddenly in a valley and I was all like “What the hell?”
I followed my gut and hey! It turned out to be a rather magnificent shortcut! Who knew?
