Long Snowshoe

Today I caught up with my friend, Vida. We met at Three Forks and snowshoed up to the bluffs, From there, we broke trail all the way to Sandon. This does not sound like a big deal. However, when the snow is deep and you’re crossing active avalanche chutes (that have had recent activity) it’s an interesting trip – and quite a bit longer than we expected.

We had to cut steps into slopes in at least one place and take reasonable care in others where the snow was less than stable.

Still, we had our payoff right near the end when we shortcut down the last steep slope – straight down. Wheeee!

It was nice to catch up. Although I was home later than expected and the work in the woods with Simon had to be pushed back to tomorrow.

And that’s fine. We’ll get the work done with limbing trees and so on and then Tuesday I should be able to go out again to play.

The sun feels amazing. You’d almost think that spring might arrive.
