I am utterly exhausted. I’m not sure that I can stay awake long enough to grab a bite to eat. And no, I have not climbed a huge mountain; that is not the cause of my utter weariness. It was sitting in a classroom for most of the day.
Now, I’m not sorry I was there. Our instructor was a super nice and knowledgeable guy and the information was valuable. but the combination of sitting and being in a cool room (which makes me sleepy, oddly enough) was hard on me.
And then we went to the Bombi Pass for more than 2 hours for practice with transceivers and probes and shovels and it was cold. I wasn’t as cold on Lepsoe in the wind that day when we were sitting at 30 below.
The most interesting discovery I made today is that I have not been indulging in risky behaviour (except once in the Wolf area). I’ve been awfully good at assessing angle of slope and risky terrain. I have gone back and turned around this season when I’ve not liked the look of the slope.
At any rate, a field day tomorrow so hand warmers and boot warmers and down layers and anything else I can think of to stay warm(ish).
And then, on Monday – home!
