It was a lovely day. Leon took a ton of us on a super KMC club trip through a friend’s 160-acre estate (farm doesn’t do it justice). I had a bit of a photo-feast and I can now unequivocally state that Leon might just be one of the kindest souls I have ever met.
And while I was doing that, Simon was working with a faller to take down 7 trees on a dangerous slope – both risking their lives to get the area cleared and the water reservoir back in working order.
They both came out of it alive, which is rather lovely. Imagine the mess I would have had to deal with!
Meanwhile, I am moving to Nelson tomorrow for a few days while Simon continues the work. Ben has kindly given me his house for as long as I need it.
This is beyond kind. However, he is not supposed to know how grateful I am. God forbid he should get the impression I am thinking nice things about him!
So tomorrow: laundry in town, food shopping for Simon and the dogs and then a trip to Nelson where I shall figure out how to turn on a hot water heater and crank up the heat.
