Evening Ridge with Simon

Lovely day!

I’d been wanting to take Simon up Evening Ridge the “other way” (read – steep route) – and today was the day. We figured it was best to get out and do it before the snow sets in tonight.

Yes, the day was grey, but the clouds were high and after a couple of tiny snow squalls, we had glorious views. And it wasn’t madly cold and the hike up is great – direct and glorious. It’s certainly my favourite at Whitewater.

What else can I possibly report? We went up at a relaxed pace, did not go up the Whaleback but stopped at the high point of the ridge – then found a sheltered place for lunch and then – a fast descent. Another thing to love about this route: you can get down very quickly indeed.

And now – a relaxing couple of days (sort of) before another fun outing on Sunday somewhere in the alpine. I’m considering maybe Lightning Strike? Cornice Ridge? Hmmmm.
