Payne Bluffs with Bum Slides

Today was way more fun than I would have expected. Somehow, we managed to avoid the big winter storm that shut down most of the highways – instead we had rain. And that left Nicky and I with the decision to go up Payne Bluffs and see how far we’d get.

I optimistically thought we’d get pretty much as far as the warming cabin near Sandon and then do a loop back. Nicky, with a tad more foresight, thought we might get either to the creek or the old mining cabin.

We didn’t even get to the creek after we called lunch and a turnaround at almost 3 hours of going through some of the heaviest, stickiest snow ever – breaking trail all the way I may add.

And so it was a slog but we managed to cheer ourselves up with the fact that at least we were outdoors and we had glimmers of blue sky.

Where the fun began was on the way down – slippery, slidy, steep – bum-sliding hilarity.

Yeah – fun!

It was, quite simply, an awesome day with great company (as usual).

Of course, I’ve had my lovely bubble bath and there’s a nice fire going. I came home to a house spotlessly dusted and vacuumed – cleaner than I think I have ever seen it. Because I have an amazing husband! Well – that’s one of the reasons. The other, of course, is that the new vacuum cleaner sort of qualifies as a new toy – had to be taken for a test-drive, right?

I wonder what would happen if I bought a new motorized toilet-bowl brush? Worth a shot?

  1. What a cool idea! I’ve never cleaned an entire house with a motorized toilet brush before…
