On the Road

Thanks to Abby for this lovely photo from White Queen a few days ago.

Today was vastly different – Simon and I had to go to Castlegar and Nelson – all sorts of little things. First we took the dogs up Dove Hill. Yay! Excellent part of the day!

Then we got dog food and then we had to buy a new vacuum cleaner because the old one finally died.

And then we had to pick up Simon’s slippers (the right size) and then – well – we had to visit ROAM across the street because – well – socks!

Yes, I have socks. One might even say that I have a lot of socks. BUT (this is important) I do not have enough socks. No woman in her right mind, especially if she hikes and snowshoes, ever has enough socks. Most particularly, she can’t possibly have enough Darn Tough socks, especially if they have just come out in new beautiful colours.

So I got two pairs of socks! And then lunch at Frog Peak and then the gas station and then, finally home.

Exhausted.

This kind of “going places” road trip tires me more than climbing Everest. Not that’s I’ve ever done Everest, but I’m quite sure I’m right about this.

So I had to have a nap after getting home and I’m still groggy from too much food and sitting and the general dullness that creeps over my addled brain when I am a passenger in a car for too long.

But that’s okay – I will be snowshoeing tomorrow. Whew! I think I’ll call it a rest day.

And I’ll be wearing a new pair of socks!
