There’s our Christmas present from the RDCK – our occupancy permit. We are pretty pleased about this. Yay!
So – given this early gift, we dedicated most of the day to preparations for Christmas. I baked Stollen – two of them. One is a gift – if it doesn’t get eaten, in which case I will have to bake more.
And then Simon and I trudged around the property looking for the perfect Charlie Brown tree. Needless to say, after looking at quite a few, we went back to the first one we’d picked out and that was the choice. Yes, it’s pretty sparse – that’s what walls are for, right? You put the naked side against the wall.
When it stops dripping water (raining outside) we will proceed to trim it. Then I will take photos for your perusal and delectation tomorrow. I expect lots of oohs and aahs. Given the nature of the tree, however, I’ll probably get nothing but snickers. (and I don’t mean the candy bar.)
Still, we’ll trim it with glasses of cheap champagne (sparkling wine) in hand so by the time we’re done, we’ll think it looks amazing!
We will then play drunken Scrabble.
And eat stollen for dinner.
What the hell, right?
I am also trying to concoct an epic snowshoe trip for Saturday. I have no idea where; all I know is that Simon, for reasons known only to himself, has ordered me out of the house for the day.
Gotta find a mountain…
