Smallwood/Bigwood

Luck made everything work today – Simon had to go to Nelson with the car. Sheila had to go to Nelson to see her relatives. I went along for the ride and, of course, to check out a new shoulder season hike. As it turns out, Smallwood/Bigwood is a steep slog through the woods up a surprising amount of metres – but a super cool view and ridge walk at the top. So we had four good hours up there with sun at lunch – yeah!

Then on to Nelson where I met Simon for the ride back. It all worked like a dream.

It’s been a good day – made even better by the good news of the election last night. It may not have been perfect – after all, GOP gerrymandering ensured that even though the Dems got millions more in votes for the senate seats, they lost three of them. BUT – and this is important – they now have a majority in the house and can finally go after Trump. Of course, Trump and his enablers know this and are already building up the walls and arming the sentries at the gates.

It should get interesting.

And with that, I am going to have a glass of wine and play drunken Scrabble with my lovely hubby.

In front of a warm fire.

Life is good.
