What a day! A brand new hike, and thanks to amazing teamwork, we not only found the lodge – and then the trailhead (after bashing about for a while on alternate trails) but we made it to the top of Ruby Ridge.
We were very proud of ourselves. And what a ridge! What a hike! I took too many panorama shots but also not enough. At the top, I could just have turned my body 360 degrees and never stopped clicking – it was that kind of place. I could clearly see Mount Fosthall with it’s distinctive ramp, Sol Mountain, Begbie and more to the north – and everything to the south – east and west – mountains I don’t even have names for.
Exhilarating! Deep snow and very steep near the top but that also made going back down very fast. Yes, we did a bit of bush bashing going up but located the proper upper trail on the way down.
To sum up – a fabulous day in a happy place. With wonderful company!
