At least we didn’t have to move as far down the alphabet as Plan D – but there was one.
It went like this: Plan A – hike Toad Mountain. So we drove down in the truck and turned up the logging road and covered about 3 or 4K before we could see that we were going to hit snow. Now we didn’t mind hiking through snow. We weren’t quite as excited about driving through it – or into it because there was a dark cloud hanging over Toad.
Plan B was the flagpole. Plan C was Morning Mountain. Plan D was Whitewater.
We went with Plan B because Tammy had only done Pulpit Rock once 14 years ago and had never done the flagpole.
So up we went. And then – well, we’re here and it’s not even noon – let’s check out the condition of the CBC Tower trail. So we went up a fair bit on that one until we hit wet, slushy snow and dense shrubby undergrowth that insisted on making us pretty darn wet.
So that was good – almost 2.5 hours straight up. And we had views and it was good. We had lunch, headed back down and got home by 3.30.
It was a good Plan B. Maybe not madly scenic but we sure did work our lungs and muscles.
And I’m beginning to feel optimistic about the future. I think my sweetie and I are concocting a plan that is going to work for us. The pieces of a puzzle are starting to fit together.
Have I mentioned lately that I love him? A Lot?
