The Weather

Thanks to Tammy for taking this photo yesterday at Carpenter Pass.

Today, we are preparing for Kokanee Glacier all the way to Sapphire Lakes in one day (plus the drive). So, naturally, we’ve been focussing on the weather and, every day, the report has changed – from nice to awful and back to nice and then awful – and, quite frankly – I am so done with thinking about it. It’s going to be whatever it is and we will adjust.

So there.

In the end, I have decided that thinking about the weather is better than thinking about politics and the general state of the world. I just wish that I could DO something about the mess our planet is in but short of shutting down all the corporations and being Empress of the planet for a week or maybe a month, I’m not sure what to do.

Although Empress is such a good idea.. First, get rid of all the stupid borders in the world. Then – no more giving birth to tons of kids – we can’t support it. And then free education for everyone and taxing churches twice as much as everyone else. And elevating science to the place it deserves and needs to be and promulgating truth instead of lies. If a news program tells lies, shut it down.

No more money laundering and offshore tax havens – go ahead, be clever and create a company and make a ton of money – but when yo do that, pay your workers fairly because you are getting rich on their backs. And pay your fair share because you use publicly funded infrastructure. And if you make a mess (tar sands) you pay to clean it up. Better yet – no more fossil fuels – invest everything in renewables.

And women and minorities (read – not just white people) are actually really and truly treated equally. No more slave labour in for-profit prisons.

Organic everything – get rid of the chemicals and the expensive pharmaceuticals and the for-profit addictive drugs.

And all animals to be treated humanely – no more factory farms. No – I am not about to make everyone a vegetarian, but let’s be kind. Animals are sentient beings.

No more raping the earth – clear cutting and strip mining and fracking – all of it – gone.

Give nature the same rights as anyone else. We can’t exist without her. Consequences of our actions – the long view – generations into the future.

Yeah – there’s more. That’s all just for starters.

Okay – back to thinking about the weather.
