This is going to be one of those photo-heavy blogs. And really – why not when the day was so surprisingly photogenic.
Tammy and I set off early in the morning to do Old Glory. We hiked it counterclockwise and that turned out to be a great choice. We got up on the ridge and suddenly – boom: rain that rapidly turned into sleet and hail and snow. Holy heck!
By the time we got to the trail junction with Plewman it was decision time. In heavy black clouds with who knows what weather to come, do we go back down and play it safe? Or do we press on to Old Glory?
Tammy left me with the decision – and I decided let’s press on and see what happens. Lucky us! What happened was that the sun came out a bit, the snow melted and the weather improved.
So up we went, found the fire lookout locked for the winter and took shelter back a bit lower down using trees as a windbreak.
We agreed that it was an awesome day – a wonderful hike!
And we talked a ton and connected on a more personal level – which was awfully nice too.
And more hikes are planned!
Feeling very good indeed, especially now that I’ve had my hot bubble bath and Simon started a cozy fire!
