So – it’s the hottest day of the year – which made it a perfectly logical choice to hike 1200 metres up the open south slope of a mountain for almost 4 hours (one way, mind you).
And yes, the reason it took that long was because of the heat.
Did I mention it was hot? At least 40 or more in the sun – and boy – yes, we were in the sun.
We made it. In other words, our accomplishment for today was that we survived. I drank about 5 litres of water, most of it stuffed with electrolytes.
The destination is lovely.
But let me just say that getting back to the truck and sitting down and driving home was also a fine, fine part of the day.
