But isn’t that always what I say when I come back from a hike?
Oh sure, it wasn’t quite as planned. There was no lolling around in the sunshine on top of White Queen. No plein air painting. In fact, it was 6 degrees at the top! Six!
Welcome to Julember.
We donned down jackets and fleece and put on mittens, gloves, and toques. We ate lunch quickly. We got rained on and we sat on the top in a cloud. But, miraculously, the cloud rolled away before we began our descent and we got some photos! A few views! And what a wonder to see this place without snow.
Abby is a wonderful leader – we had a great crowd and a wonderful time, sloshing through swamp, mud and through trees that insisted on soaking us. Yes – it’s a route – not a trail.
But we laughed. I believe there was a bit of dancing on the top but we’ll say no more about that.
