I went to the garden store. The soil and manure are still in the back of the car. This means that the vehicle is going to smell really yummy by end of day. Oops! That’s now. (afraid to open the door.)
That said, I got good heritage tomatoes – hoping the beefsteaks will taste like real beefsteaks – not like mildly tomato-flavoured candy.
I put lots more seeds in the ground, did a ton of weeding, got straw around the strawberries. Watered, prepared more beds and started hauling bits of stumps and stuff to the front of the house for the flower bed. Simon then finished the trellising and hauled big stumps and rocks to the front of the house – and just finished emptying the back of the car – yay!
By the end of the day tomorrow, I should have everything planted, including the flower bed. Very exciting! And, of course, I shall snap lots and lots of photos.
In other news, I got another rejection letter today.
I other other news, I have decided that the big adventure this summer is hiking in Waterton. Simon and I want to do two hikes: Lineham Ridge and Carthew Alderson – maybe a third one. I need to investigate farther.
Today I thoroughly got in touch with my love of gardening. My particular weirdness is that it has to look beautiful as well as produce food – and I have to feel as though I have it sorted – under control (to a small extent). I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else but it works for me. So now I’m insanely excited to complete the big picture tomorrow.
Yup – love gardening. Love how awesome Simon is at bringing it all together.
