Good day today – one of those “shoulder season” hikes. Shanara opted to stay home and help dad with the sheathing. So Abby and I headed to Payne Bluffs – hiked to the top and then over to Cody Spur – took Cody Spur to the cabin (by this time tons of snow) and then down along Carpenter Creek and back to Sandon – and then back up K&S and down Payne Bluffs to the car: 5 hours, about 20K and 500 metres elevation.
It was a fine day. I was thrilled at how well Abby did. The heat didn’t bother her but she also had tons of opportunities to jump into creeks and lie down in wet and muddy puddles. And then there was the rolling in the snow.
And because it was just her and me, there was also half a sandwich and an extra hunk of cheese. Yeah – she considered it a good day.
The house is looking better by the day. The sheathing makes a big difference. Tomorrow, Simon is doing the front and I can build the flower beds and plant them. That’s my day tomorrow: gardening and lots of it.
