Plan B (again)

Plan A – meet Vida at Three Forks at 8 a.m. and do trail maintenance all morning on the K&S. I actually had no Plan B. Which was, of course, a silly oversight.

At 7. a.m. I checked into my messages – Vida had a bit of an emergency and had to cancel. Hmmm.

Plan B was to take the dogs somewhere else. But first, a load or two of laundry. After all, it was early – no problem fitting all that in.

And then as the first load of laundry was going through its last rinse cycle the motor on the washing machine blew. Hmmmm.

Plan C: wring out all the laundry while Simon strung up a clothesline (Bonus! I now have a clothesline!!!) and take the next two loads of wash to the laundromat while putting an ad in on the local websites “ISO – washing machine!”

And so I put the laundry into machines and took Abby for a nice walk by the creek for half an hour. Then back home to dry it all. And while Simon headed to Nakusp to pick up a new window for the basement bedroom, I went out into the garden (nap first, of course). It all turned into a domestic day – and I suppose that counts as Plans D through G.

The dogs had bones; I weeded and watered; Simon painted the sheathing and is installing the window.

Tomorrow – I promise myself a long hike tomorrow.

But gardening and doing outdoor domestic things in the sun is not such a bad way to spend a hot, sunny afternoon – not too bad at all.
