It could well have been a hike on the West Coast today. It poured rain last night and was still coming down when I drove into New Denver to meet Tammy. Mike, her friend from Wisconsin was with her, and we drove off to the trailhead, leaving one car at the end for our point to point hike.
It rained heavily, less heavily, heavily again – stopped for almost an hour (which is why I managed to take two photos) and then started up heavily again.
I told Mike and Tammy that I was reminded of the many hikes I did with Julie on Vancouver Island when we would huddle under a tree or rock, inhale our lunch, and keep on hiking.
This time, we omitted lunch altogether until we got back to the cars at about 1.30 p.m. or so. Abby came along and I admit that she still looks a bit water logged. But she is such a good trail dog, never straying, staying right by our heels.
One thing I loved – and that Tammy mentioned as well – was the green. Oh my – green and green and green – every shade of green from baby new leaves to newly awakened cedars. And the bird song – tons of bird song. We also saw lots of bear scat and wolf scat.
We had a great time. However, I admit that getting out of wet clothing and into a hot bath this afternoon when I got home was heavenly.
