Robson Ramble

Today I joined a BIG group (19) on a Robson Ramble. I’d never been – knew nothing about the trails or the area – so it was worth doing. Surprisingly and happily, I knew most of the hikers and it was a truly super group. Of course, Ed and Hazel are amazing – so what else could I expect?

The hike reminded me a bit of Nanaimo’s Westwood Ridges and a bit of Duncan’s Maple Mountain – lots of up and down and tons of beautiful bluffs and unexpected wildflower meadows. Notably, we saw Balsam Root, Prairie Desert and tons of Saskatoons in full bloom.

We did over 500 metres of elevation but it always felt pleasant and easy. We had lunch on top of a bluff with terrific views over Castlegar and then ambled back down for about 4.5 hours all told.

Just a really fine day.

My plans for the next few days are also quite, quite excellent.

Simon released some chips from the side of the highway where a chipper truck lost its load (hehehe). The garden is almost completely mulched now. Awesome!
