Elgood – Plewman traverse

Highlights of the day:

  1. Forgetting my snowshoes and barging in on Rick at 8.30 a.m. to borrow his. (thank you, Rick!)
  2. Starting the day in crazy heat and getting an interesting “gaiter tan.”
  3. Heading up the steep side of Mount Elgood. This took the word steep to whole new levels. I have never scrambled up snow before.
  4. Making it to the top – yay!
  5. Running into another super KMC group at the top of Plewman!
  6. Sitting down on top for lunch with thousands of ladybugs – no exaggeration – thousands. They were everywhere. Had to be careful about picking a place to sit so as not to crush them.
  7. Views – clear blue sky and views to die for.
  8. Awesome company.
  9. A nice relatively easy descent via Seven Summits to end the day with about 6.5 hours, 850 metres elevation and about 15K
