Yes – today I got a big part of my freedom back. Simon chipped away at ice, put a tow rope on the car, and gently pulled with his truck, thus freeing the little hybrid from its prison of ice and bringing it down to the bottom of the drive. And (get this!) I then actually drove it into New Denver – surprised and delighted that I remembered how to drive!

Yes – a dog walk at Carpenter Creek, a bit of shopping (read – replenishing my stash of chocolate), and coming back home. And I drove. All. The. Way.

And there it is – the little white car sitting at the bottom of the drive, ready for me to take it anywhere I want.

I am thinking Mexico.

I mentioned to Simon today how tired I’ve been feeling. By 8 p.m. every night, I am ready to just sleep, or perhaps, more accurately,  hibernate – for hours and hours. When I wake up from my ten minute afternoon nap, what I really want to do is pull the covers over my head and sleep for the rest of the afternoon.

Simon said he’s been feeling much the same way – just wanting to sleep – just being tired.

I think it’s the grey, the relentless winter, the stress of money worries and so on – it all adds up.

But, as I said to him, the good news is that despite that, I’m getting my butt out, enjoying hikes every chance I get – and I’m writing whenever I am not hiking.

Writing and hiking.

It’s a start.

And now I have a car.

Mexico – or maybe Chile. I understand they’ve just added millions of acres of high alpine parkland in Patagonia. Hmmmmm
