This winter, I am grateful for Walter’s property across the road. After my chores were done and lunch was done and a couple of thousand words of writing handled, Abby and I headed across the street, this time with my GPS. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do: get down to the lake or do a circle trip. I started following the now faint tracks Simon and I made two days ago, but lost them quickly and just headed straight east, over every ridge, picking my way around deadfall, finding the most likely path. Abby and I eventually ended up on the highest ridge (cliff face really) above the lake.
I took a good look around at that point. I also checked my GPS topographical feature. I have to say, I’m not sure if we can get down to the lake from there at all – but that will have to wait for another day. From the high point, we took a circle route back. A couple of times, I crossed the tracks from the other day but hey – why go the easy way when there are ridges to go up and down?
And so we had a good afternoon.
The writing is going well.
I think that’s about it. I had some thoughts on our walk but they’re still percolating. Not ready to share yet.
Time to get domestic again (sigh) – bread and soup. Sounds like jailhouse fare – hope it’s a bit better than that.
