Writer’s Life

One of the greatest reward’s of the writer’s life: holding your first book in your hands – seeing the words you wrote on the printed page – having a retail store take your books and display them! Yep – all those things happened for Simon today. He has huge reasons to celebrate! Me? I’m just excited about figuring out the self-timer on my camera!

All kidding aside, I remember how it felt for me the first time – the huge book signing was one thing – but the big thing was walking by a book store and seeing a display of my books in the window. Wow!

And so that was the highlight of the day. Another nice thing – today Simon suggested we cross the street on our snowshoes to a neighbour’s huge property – a neighbour who gave us permission to walk on it. In the summer, it’s a “no thanks.” But in the winter it’s a different world. We had a terrific time exploring. In the winter, the snow brings light into the trees and, of course, we don’t have to be guided by roads. We can walk wherever we want. So that’s nice to know. We had a good, vigorous exploration. Next time, we’ll go all the way to the lake because I do believe we can access the water.

I started writing another story – it’s dark – it’s going slowly. It will get done.

Maybe today. Maybe tomorrow. I suspect we will have to go with plan B tomorrow and not Strawberry Pass. The weather is looking formidable.

We shall see.
