Grey and rain ensued mixed with occasional snow depending on elevation.
That said, we had a showing of our house today – and that’s kind of miraculous considering it’s winter. At any rate, there’s nothing like a house showing to get you motivated to deep-clean the homestead. Simon got to work on the outside and a lot of that had to do with pick-axing his way through ice and making the driveway exceedingly driveable.
Me? I washed dog things, stripped and re-made beds and got out a bottle of Windex, using most of it – and then put the little corner-thingy attachment on the vacuum cleaner to get dead flies off window sills and scattered bits of firewood out of corners and…
Well, if you’ve ever done a reasonably thorough job of cleaning a house, you know how it goes – right down to scrubbing the bottom of the refrigerator and getting the crumbs out of the toaster.
Hey! Even if this wasn’t the showing, it does feel rather nice to live in a sparkling clean house. Oh yes – and tidy too! No bits of paper floating around – and you know what I mean by bits. It’s those notes you make to yourself and they end up on the corner of the kitchen counter for a month – and it’s that mail you bring home, meaning to open it but it gets left on the coffee table. Yeah – all that stuff got tidied up.
Another bonus: because we had to be out of the house for more than an hour, the dogs got a good, long walk and I got a nice snowshoe. Yay!
I am slowly, bit by bit, getting more readers on my short story site – and the feedback so far is awesome! This is good news.
