Skiing Redux

Right! Today was my second day on country skis. I fell only once and even that was completely egregious – so I’d say I did quite a bit better than the first time. I went with Nicky and Brent (see photos) along the rail trail from Slocan to the trumpeter swan hangout. I’ll tell you – this skiing business is a damn fine workout.

What I’m trying to say is that it was fun. I was actually beginning to work on form – what a concept! And I think I’m beginning to get the idea. I want to get out a few days on my own next week (or with someone – doesn’t matter) to just work on it.

Next order of business: wood. Simon went out with Brent (just this second came back) and – oh my gosh! A truckload of wood! This is a reason to dance and celebrate – to jump for joy! We were down to our last day of wood – and it’s cold out there. Thanks to Brent, we have wood.

At this moment, Brent and Simon are my two biggest heroes!

But I wasn’t being a lazy bum eating bonbons – I took down the tree, put all the ornaments away, cleaned, swept, vacuumed, scrubbed – and whew! Done for the day!

Now I can spend tomorrow (or most of it) writing. It seems like forever since I wrote a story and it’s definitely time.

Alisa read two of my stories – she liked them! This is a big deal. She’s a reader and she’s articulate. She’s not afraid to give constructive criticism (which I appreciate) so to get an “I like it! (she even said “I loved it!) from her is high praise indeed.

I feel even more motivated now to keep writing and to make sure the stories find a publisher.
