Yes, that’s right: more snow. It’ still falling down. I have no idea when it will stop.
We are so done with it!
But on to what’s next: things to be happy about. First, today is solstice – the shortest day of the year (not day – daylight hours, but such is the misleading vernacular). Tomorrow, the days are getting longer – to start with, by two seconds! Yes! Count them! I certainly will.
Today we found our Christmas tree on the property. No, it’s not one of those full, groomed trees. And I’m fine with that. Those trees have become so full you can’t even hang ornaments from them any more. Not on ours! Let me tell you, our trimmings will dangle for miles without touching another branch.
Okay – maybe a tad Charlie Brownish but, by gum, it is a tree and we’re going to decorate it tomorrow and it will be very fine.
What else? Brent and Nicky came by to shower (yes – they live off-grid) and to eat Christmas treats. They seem to have received two thumbs up – so that’s good. Simon was inordinately pleased because I told him that he could eat as many as Brent did – he was thrilled. I think he quadrupled his ration for the day.
Simon is still working on his book. I would have liked to write today but chose to spend it cleaning and baking sourdough bread.
I’m absolutely in dire straits as far as getting out. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so little time outdoors – just the back four. My body doesn’t feel right. I can’t do this no-exercise thing. I feel frustrated – hugely frustrated. But when I look at my options – walking up Red Mountain Road – yuck!
Shopping for Christmas groceries tomorrow. Hey – at least I’m getting out in the car.
