Another Flagpole

And this was our view of Nelson today.

Chalk it up as just one more day that can best be described as “Not exactly as planned!”

I got up early – just past 5.30 a.m. and drove to Nelson to meet Helen at 8.30 for the X-country ski swap. Well, it turns out the actual swap didn’t start until 11 a.m. What to do….

Well, instead of heading up to the flagpole after the swap, we thought we’d kill time (horrible expression, isn’t it?) by doing it first. So – up we went and didn’t get back to the swap until 12.30, at which point they were clearing up the tables and shutting down.

No skis today. But Helen asked all the people there who she knew (and Helen knows everyone!) and they told here that the skis and gear we were looking for – we wouldn’t have found anyway.

So that made everyone feel a lot better.

So there it is. I saved a ton of money today! Ha! I also put out a message on the KMC page telling people what I’m looking for – and if I don’t have total details on what I need, they only have to ask Helen – she’s my agent! (Ha, again!)

So at least I got a good stiff hike today – and a bath and a nap. But you know what, I’m tired.

I feel like vegging right now.

I have stories on my mind but I also have the feeling that there’s a long period of grey about to descend.

Oh well – you can’t be expected to be on top of your game every day, right?
