Cleaning, laundry, baking bread, writing another story – and that was only the morning. In the afternoon I edited and completed the story and took the puppies for a walk – then shopping. Now – onwards to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
But the best part (next to immersing myself in another story of course) was the late afternoon walk on the Galena Trail. Even on sunny days everywhere else, we seem to get socked in with lake mist and fog here in the valley, but the sun did burn away the clouds and walking in the warmth with the dogs (who were overwhelmingly pleased) was a real pleasure.
Every year, I marvel over and over again at the magic of October light. I take my camera everywhere. Even the mundane Galena trail becomes a thing of beauty and wonderment. The colours and the slant of the light make my eyes dance.
And so it has, of course, been a wonderful day. My naps these days are totally ruined. I have so many ideas whirling around my brain that I simply can’t shut down. Plots and characters populate my mind.
I love it!
But I also like to nap.
I see by the weather forecast that we have a limited number of days left before the sun disappears and the snows begin. So – hiking tomorrow and Sunday and probably Monday and maybe Tuesday. And then – kapow!
Snowshoes and – with any luck at Sunday’s ski swap – skis!
