Seven Summits

Today I made a new friend. And that, I believe, is more important than the joy I got out of the hike.

Tammy and I set off to do three peaks on the Seven Summits Trail – and we knocked them off in pretty good order – even though at the top of Elgood I headed along the wrong ridge and got us scrambling over some fierce boulders and edgy stuff. Ha!

But we got back on track and had a simply wonderful time on good trails. We did 911 metres in elevation over almost 15K in about 5.5 hours. Love my Gaia app.

At any rate, we talked non-stop, not only on the hike but also on the three hours total driving time.

Tammy is an amazing, beautiful human being. I feel blessed to have another wonderful person in my life.

I think the thing that really cinched the deal was when we were talking about “deep things” and I said that, in my opinion, heaven was right here on earth – and she shouted, “Me too!”

There’s something about finding people like Tammy – like Nicky – like Simon – who have reverence – who see this world as beautiful, sacred – who understand about living in this place at this time in this beauty – people who love this magical place.

What I’m trying to say is that I am in a place of bliss.

More wonderful hikes to come!
