Road Trip

A road trip was just one of the many things on our busy agenda today. First there was the  dog walk up to Payne Bluffs and along to the bridge and baby waterfall. I took a photo, which I was going to insert, but I got lazy and just threw a random picture on the page. So there you are – randomness. And whyever not? It’s just an existential statement, right?

Two great things about the mini-hike: Abby did fine and bounced along beautifully. Also, Shanara did well and stayed on the trail, thoroughly enjoying herself.

Lovely. While I was out with the dogs (with Tammy and Sheila – wonderful company!) Simon was working on trying to figure out the malfunctioning (read – not functioning at all) heating system on the truck. And so , after lunch he said, “Want to come on a road trip?”

“Sure,” I said. The puppies also came and so we had a family trip all the way to (wait for it) – Castlegar!

You know you’re living in the middle of nowhere when you get excited about a car trip to Canadian Tire!

To add even more excitement to the day (I am quivering from head to foot), we stopped at the Co-op on the way home and I bought a bottle of wine! Yes! I am going to drink a glass of wine and we are going to play Scrabble.

We know how to rock a night in!

But we also had lovely conversation on the drive. I don’t know what it is, but there’s nothing like sitting in a car for great talks.

And so it feels good and nice and the whole damn thing. Hiking includes Monica Meadows on Friday, Mount Crawford on Sunday and probably either Begbie or Jade Pass on Tuesday. And maybe a hike on Thursday as well.

And meanwhile, each day goes by and we are rolling with them as they come and go. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I have ideas but strictly of the creative kind – they are brewing. I like that feeling.
