Here’s the amazing thing about today’s bliss – and yes, even with 14 people (wonderful people!) it was completely blissful. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about today. Amazing!
Simon and Nicky and I hiked Alps Alturas earlier this year but turned back on the “airy” slope where Simon stopped when his vertigo kicked in. This time, he overcame it. He was, quite frankly, amazing. He did it like it was a walk in the park. And where we thought we had almost done the hike last time, we discovered there was another 30 minutes of hiking ending at (and passing by) a whole chain of alpine lakes nestled in a perfect bowl. It was stunning and more.
So here’s what I know for sure: Before the end of the season, I’ll be doing it again with Nicky – because Nicky is going to take one look at these photos and insist that we go because hey, this is alpine bliss and she didn’t do it last time! The best part of Alps Alturas comes after our turnaround! So she’ll make me go because she has never ever lost her fucking shine!
And I don’t mind going back one bit. This is a slice of heaven – and I will be happy to go back over and over and over again.
So now I am in complete bliss: Skyline, Alps Alturas – and so much more to come before the end of the season. Sheila is already compiling a list of every hike we have to do before the end of October.
