Today’s haul of blueberries: 9 pounds. Sadly, judging by the rapid ripening in this crazy weather, I believe it will be our last picking. But we did good. We have at least four days of plenteous (even profligate) eating plus three more containers in the freezer. Wonderful.
We headed off early this morning, finding relief from the smoke in the car’s air conditioning. It’s smoky. The only comfort we can take from all this is that we are not in Kamloops where the smoke warnings are so off the charts people are being asked to stay in their houses.
I still managed to go up the Red Mountain hill with the dogs without breathing hard.
I’m kind of enjoying having two days off – a third tomorrow is a bit much though. But I’ll survive it – walk around Nelson and get some shopping done while the car is being serviced.
And that’s it. Let’s see – ate our first cucumber today – crisp and delicious! Picked a lot of Swiss card and noticed that my second sowing of lettuce is going crazy. Three days ago I put seeds in the ground – already the whole wide row is a sea of green! Excellent!
Simon working on the house in the heat and smoke – putting up batts – doing an awesome job.
Me – looking at plan B and C if we can’t do Jumbo Pass because of road closures: Glacier Park (Iceline and whaleback?) or Plan C – Waterton. Although Nicky noted today that Alberta has closed the back country in the southern part of the province. Hmmmm. Have the desire – will hike. The only question is where. The answer to that question could be fun.
