Sometimes, a day off is rather nice. Today is perfect for that. It’s raining and, at the moment, thundering. Poor Shanara doesn’t like it one bit and is holed up in the basement. Abby, of course, is just hanging around the kitchen waiting for dinner time. Thunder? What thunder?
Luckily, I got them both out for a short walk on the Galena Trail before the sky opened so they had a nice little run. I also managed to get all the grocery shopping done and inside the house while remaining relatively dry.
Such a domestic day: laundry, vacuuming, cleaning, baking sourdough bread. I was going to do even more but the mystery of the vacuum cleaner kept me occupied longer than I thought it would. Oh well. Perhaps Simon can solve it when he gets home. I can’t imagine it’s a terribly exciting day at work. The rain will likely keep most people away from tourist attractions.
I posted my first hike with KMC yesterday and I’m one person shy of being full. Now I just have to hope for good weather. And I also want reasonably dry weather for our recce trip. I suspect it’s going to be Saturday rather than Friday.
Simon’s mother arrives soon. I think Penny will also be coming for a visit in July. When she does, I’ll drag her up a mountain every day.
And that’s it – my life – quiet, not too exciting – but just fine.
Yesterday as we sat on top of our mountain eating lunch, I told Rick that I felt blessed every day when I wake up. I’m not always conscious of the thought, but often I am. As I said that, I realized that my greatest blessing is Simon’s love. There’s nothing in the world quite like living in love.
