New Denver to Silverton

These seem like crazy busy days when I can’t seem to catch up with my list – the one written down and the one yet to be entered into my notebook.

But still, given the answer to everything is “hiking” – today, I hiked. We used two cars, leaving one in Silverton and starting off in New Denver. Tammy, who had only hiked over the top once eight years ago, did a crazy awesome job getting us through some major bushwhack territory to the creek and then down the trail to the waterfall and back – we detoured to a couple of mine sites and eventually ended up in Silverton – about 500 metres in elevation¬†and something like 10K if I remember correctly – or maybe a bit more than that.

We got rained on a bit but otherwise had pretty good weather. It was one of those layering up and delayering days – frequent stops.

Back home I built up a fire just to warm the house, had a short nap, walked the dogs in the back 4 – and am now considering dinner, cleaning and shopping lists for meals in the coming days.

What all this leads up to is that I have not done a stitch of writing all week – and I miss it badly. But I think it will be a few more days before I write again.

It’s at times like this that I am grateful to at least have this blog. It may not be much; my notes may be short; but it’s something and it does, to a certain degree, answer that primal urge I have to write. It’s like breathing for me. I have to write.
